The Iraqi Minister of Electricity visited the project for the construction of a 320 MW gas power plant in Dibis, Iraq

According to the report of Public Relations and International Affairs of Sunir Company, Adel Karim, Minister of Electricity of Iraq, along with senior officials of Kirkuk province, including the governor, district governor and member of parliament, in the presence of representatives of Sunir and the contractor company on Wednesday, 17/11/2021 site visited the construction of a 320 MW gas power plant in Dibis.

 

During this visit, Adel Karim and his accompanying officials, while pointing to the significant progress of the project, acknowledged that there are few steps left until the operation of the first unit of the power plant.

 

The senior official of the ministry pointed to the problems and obstacles that led to the slowdown of project activities and said that it is expected that with the continued serious efforts of the employer and project contractors to remove obstacles and improve cooperation between the parties, witnessing acceleration of project progress. Let the first unit of this power plant be put into operation by May 15, 2022 at the latest.

 

It is worth mentioning that despite the existence of many problems while continuing the work in construction operations of the site, with the efforts and uninterrupted pursuit of the management and executive team of Sunir Company, many issues and problems in the financial and banking part and also cash flow of the project have been largely resolved.

 

It is necessary to explain that the construction project of Dibis power plant, include two gas turbine units with a capacity of generating 160 MW electricity each, is underway in the city of Dibis in the Kirkuk region of Iraq, with the aim of increasing the capacity of the country’s electricity production.
